Marbella gives a green light to the business incubator

It will operate in Plaza de los Naranjos, next to the Town Council The Town Council of Marbella has given a green light to work on the business incubator, which will operate in Plaza de los Naranjos, in the heart of the old quarter. The work, eighty per cent of which is financed by European funds, will represent an investment of 1,3 million euros and will consist of the reformation of a municipal building located next to the Town Council.

The Town Council undertakes 110 major works in 2013 and Operational Services resolve over 8.300 public highway incidents.

During 2013 the Town Council of Marbella undertook a total of 110 major works, completing a “huge investment drive” of over 18 million euros. These figures come from the balance statement released today by Councillor Javier García, who highlighted as a novelty this year the launch of a road preservation and maintenance service as well as the resolution of over 8.300 incidents by Operational Services.

The Projects Unit of the municipal Department of Public Works managed close to 200 dossiers relating to major works that have permitted, amongst other activities, the improvement of 50.000 square metres of paving, the removal of 400 architectural barriers, the maintenance of 6 kilometres of the Seafront Promenade or the installation of 100 new ecological islands.

Marbella experiences 50% growth in the Russian market and closes a brilliant 2013 tourist year. The influx of foreign tourists increased from all sources and makes up for the decline in Spanish visitors. 

Domestic tourism plummeted this year in all destinations and Marbella was no exception. However, the town saw the end of an excellent year thanks to the growth experienced in all foreign markets, particularly the emerging ones. This was made manifest yesterday by the data provided by the Councillor for Tourism, José Luis Hernández, in relation to the tourists who stayed in the town’s hotels, where the financial year closed with a six per cent increase in visitor numbers and eight per cent if overnight stays are taken into account, which also shows that the average length of stay per visitor has similarly experienced an increase.
