The study on the design of the train that will extend the Suburban route to Marbella will be revealed this first quarter of the year. So said the Minister for Public Works, Ana Pastor, who views this rail connection as very important and who has shown herself to be firmly committed to carry it out, as has already been done with the work in San Pedro Alcántara, which was another of the key propositions of the Mayor of Marbella Ángeles Muñoz. "I commissioned the study of the design of this line, which is now almost complete. During this quarter, I cannot be more specific on the date, the report about the railway connection to Marbella will be made public”, she stated.

The local government team anticipates putting over fifty building projects out to tender during the months of January and February, included in this year’s municipal budgets, and above all involving actions with budgets of under 60.000 euros, although will also include projects of larger scope which are currently being processed and in a quite advanced state. The Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, explained that included amongst these projects to be put out to tender «as soon as possible» are all the minor building works, as well as those exceeding 60.000 euros, and which require administrative processing with a period of public display and lengthy tender process, whereby some will be put out to tender imminently and others around the summer.

The Town Council of Marbella will connect Nueva Andalucía with the coastline via a River Walkway of 1,8 kilometres length that will modernise the Guadaiza River, one of the town’s natural assets, and provide a new area for leisure activities, get-togethers and recreation for all of the town’s citizens.

The councillor for works, Javier García, explained that the project will run along the left bank of the Guadaiza River by means of a pedestrian walkway and a bicycle lane parallel to the river and beyond the area of influence of the flood prevention work that the Junta de Andalucia is to undertake.

The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, has signed a collaboration protocol with her counterpart from the Chinese district of Nanshan (Shenzhen), Yu Xinguo, for the purposes of developing projects in matters of tourism, education, culture and business.

The councillor for Tourism, José Luis Hernández, explained that this initiative forms part of the strategy being undertaken by the Town Council “to open the Chinese market to Marbella”, focusing on the cities of Shenzhen, Shangai and Canton.
