The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, today announced that the Town Council will cut the IBI Property Tax rate for 2015 by 10 per cent and will double the subsidies granted for this tax for all those who are registered on the town census.

Specifically, the IBI tax rate cut will mean that 70 per cent of the population (over 68.500 homes) will see a reduction in their IBI invoice or will see a freeze on this year. Therefore, 52.222 properties will see a reduction, while 16.399 will pay the same as this year.

In relation to subsidies for those registered on the town census, these will be doubled across all sectors. By so doing, homes with a value of up to 100.000 euros will have their IBI discounted by 20 per cent; those between 100.000 and 200.000, by 15 per cent; those between 200.000 and 300.000 by 10 per cent and those over 300.000 by 5 per cent.

Together with these measures and thanks to the financial situation of the Town Council “we have been able to go further to boost the economic dynamism of the town by adopting measures as important as the suppression of opening license rates for any establishment”. Similarly, the Town Council will annul the rates payable for issuing census registration certificates, coexistence certificates, residence certificates and municipal agreements, together with certificates for fire prevention and extinction services. We will also be extending the discounts that came into operation this year for hotels of 50 per cent of the IAE Business Tax if they open every month of the year, to tourist apartments with the same objective of consolidating stable employment in the town. With these measures scheduled for 2015, the Town Council will be collecting 15 million euros less in taxes, “which will have a direct impact on the family budgets of our citizens”, said the Mayor.
